In the heart of all that we do at Siloso Beach Resort is the environment and our unending efforts towards its preservation. In today's profit-centred culture, it is with utmost urgency that we be stringently green and protect the land on which we have built our booming businesses.
Taking the extra step to ensure that waste is minimised and our carbon footprint downsized, we encourage our staff members and guests to do the same.
Since most waste is generated in offices, we have decided that we will crack down on unnecessary waste right where we work. Our staff use both sides of the paper and recycle what cannot be used anymore; paper, plastic, glass and any material that can be recycled is sent promptly to recycling centres and we are also conscious that we do not use more electricity that we need.

Recycling can only get us so far and what is really needed is a system that increases recycling efficacy and there is nothing better than technology to help this process along. At Siloso Beach Resort, we use a heat-exchange system; after passing through the air-conditioners, chill-converted-hot water flows to heaters used in every guestroom; everything is ultra sanitary and utterly environmentally-friendly since every drop of water is used to its maximum.
Apart from that, above all the comfortably furnished rooms, is a garden that aims to be more than just aesthetically pleasing. The blooming miniature eco-environment is cleverly self-maintaining, providing another inviting home for nature's best. It also helps absorb the heat from the sun's warm rays thereby saving what would have been an inordinate amount of energy needed to cool down the resort and its many rooms.
On the subject of the precious and soon-finite resource of water, Siloso Beach Resort collects its own spring water from the totally natural underground reservoir; the filtered supply fills the swimming pool where guests, shaded by luscious greenery, take a refreshing dip or lie languidly on the wooden deck chairs.
And the overflow from the pool does not go down the drain. Since the water is only minimally chlorinated (as required by the Singaporean government) and kept sanitised by an ionised salt solution that is so safe, the overflow is used in the ponds sprinkled around the resort and the fishes thrive in their lovingly man-made habitat.
In order to ensure that our surrounding lands are protected from further duress, water-based pesticides are used, instead of the usual. Making their rounds two times a week, caretakers prevent further environmental damage and pollution in runoffs while guaranteeing the well-being of our treasured guests.
It is a love and passion for the environment and nature that will act as an impetus for us to begin to care unconditionally for the waning ozone layer, depleting forests and out-of-control pollutants.
Using less plastic, energy-saving lightbulbs and a smart heat-exchange system can only do so much, so, throughout the Resort, we assimilate nature with luxury, greenery with cutting-edge technology in a bid to have our guests come to appreciate nature's infinite value.
One of the most stunning natural features in the Resort is perhaps the grotto; a wooden platform intricately made with hundred-year-old Australian Jarra wood preserved from a railroad and surrounded by tables and chairs made from living wood.
Another eye-opener is the menagerie of animals that call the Resort their home. With Eddy the elusive peacock, a family of frogs, squirrels that join us for breakfast, birds and even monitor lizards just a window away, guests are invited to be as immersed in nature as they please.
Besides wildlife, the Resort also has a collection of rare and exotic plant species. Dotting the many mini forests are young seedlings of papaya, durian, coconut and sugar cane trees as well as earthy vegetation that adorn the Resorts in a vividly colourful fragrance.
In lieu with keeping everything in the resort au natural, humungous Dinosaur Rocks line the winding pathways. Unlike their fibre-glass counterparts found elsewhere, these large boulders were specially brought in so that guests may be exposed to and come to love the all-encompassing Mother Nature.
- Avoid using the toiletries provided in hotel rooms since they come in tiny, non-biodegradable plastic bottles that will just be thrown away. If you have forgotten yours, do not fret since all rooms at Siloso Beach Resort come with soap dispensers.
- If you do not need the morning paper, depending on your room package, inform the reception so that the environment will be spared a whole stack of paper. At Siloso Beach Resort, we only provide the papers when requested.
- Use cloth bags to store used clothes. These are reusable and will not contribute to the growing pile of plastic in landfills.
- When you are not watching the TV, turn it off. Keycards at Siloso Beach Resort ensure that lights and air-conditioners are turned off when no one is in the room.
- Walk or take public transport. Siloso Beach Resort is just a five-minute walk from attractions like Songs of the Sea, Sentosa Luge & Skyride, Café del Mar and Siloso Beach so you will not even need to hop on one of Sentosa Island's many trams or buses. (www.sentosa.com.sg)
